mise-en-scene

image 1
this image conveys an emotion of love and passion. this emotion is visible from the girl's facial expressions as they are kissing.
image 2
This image conveys hatred, insanity and rage, the emotion could show hes angry and wants revenge.

image 1
The characters are showed to be distant and awkward towards each other. the lady has her arms and legs crossed  she looks quite annoyed whereas the man's position makes him feel bad and looks apologetic.
image 2
The characters are shown to be strong and powerful. As they are both wearing the same suits and stand in the positions, this shows they are together as a team.

image 1
atmosphere in this cage/prison setting.
dim lighting creates a dark depressing and mysterious scene, the lighting is to show the room has candles lit in it, it looks like their in a cave so it could have been set a very long time ago. As the light is shown, the audiences attention is brought to the prisoners.
image 2
The swords tell us this is an action scene. The audience has an idea of is going to happen and what they are fighting over (treasure/gold) The costumes of the characters show a pirate theme which is associated with treasure as it relates to pirates.

The denotation of this advert is a boy with a football, the connotation is a young teenage boy who is in his estate playing football, looks quite independent
The red colours has synergy with font, as it represents blood and gore which is linked with the historic font used for the copy. The black and white background highlights how the boy in colour is the most important factor of the advert. The lighting in the image is quite dull and dark, this is done to emphasise the main character who is in colour rather than black and white like the rest of the edited image. This suggests that wearing products by Nike make you as an individual stand out from the crowd, which would appeal to the audience and make them want to consume the product.

The font is very urban like the picture itself, and the tag line is very large so it stands out. The font in large 'who rules?' looks as if it has been written as graffiti, the background is also set in some type of estate, so the font suits the whole image in itself.
This is a long shot that promotes Nike, The lines from the sky are all pointing towards the focal point which is the boy playing football as the rest of the background isn't significant, and he is in colour maybe to show how football brings vibrancy in his life, and the contrast of the background and the boy could show escapism from his community.
The product is aimed mostly towards a male audience who live an urban lifestyle as the background looks very dark and gritty, from a females perspective this advert wouldn't be very appealing as the colours are very dull, even though there are some bright colours used such as red and yellow. Also there is a male who is playing football in the advert, which is the focal point of the image, and football is typically dominated by males, so this advert would generally attract young teenage boys

Poster Analysis

This is 50 cents advertisement of Reebok. The colours used in this advert are quite dull and dark, this could be him reflecting on the past and his history as it hasn't been good for him but there's a light/shadow reflecting on the areas of his face but isn't that clear.

The advert is split in half of 2 different things, the left side of the advert is a imagine of a medium close up shot of 50 cents face and the other has one of his quotes but in the background it had a police note with 50 cents finger prints on it which shows that he could be a criminal and he is in the police records. the imagine that is the close up shot mainly focuses the seriousness of his facial expressions. The size of the image takes up 50% of the print which suggests that the face of the advert is as important as the text. In the image the largest text that says 'i am what i am' which also relates to the image of 50 cent as it connotates the fact that he is proud of who he is and is comfortable with his past. in the smaller text it states 'take advantage of today because tomorrow is not promised.' this also relates to 50 cent as he has been shot over 10 times. the typography of the poster has the feeling of medieval times. This perhaps suggest that the history he has had of going to jail, and being a criminal will always be part of him, but that doesn't mean he can't change.

The purge

The film poster I chose is the purge, this is because it looks quite interesting from looking at the film poster, the plot of this movie is that there is a one day in America that the government has sanctioned an annual 24 hour period in which any and all criminal activity including murder, become legal. the meaning of the word purge associates getting physically get rid of so that could be a contrast between the title of the movie and the plot because for one day people could murder people without any action being taken by the police or anyone else. the tagline on the film poster says 'one night a year all crime is legal' put the audience in sudden suspense on what is going to happen in the movie as in other countries this isn't legal. this movie is a horror, from this i can tell because the front cover has very dark and dull colours which could mean its in the night time which is mostly when all crimes are taken place because then no one can see the criminals faces in the night. Also it looks quite interesting as there is a someone face on the front with a mask on but the mask is smiling so this could be the person behind the mask is evil because when people tend to do bad crimes they always have a smile on their faces in the end so it looks quite scary. on the top of the film poster it says 'from the producer from paranormal activity and sinister' this could grab the audiences attention more because the two films mentioned are one of the most popular and rated horror movies and are quite scary so this could also mean this is going to be another good and horrifying movie. Finally, i believe that this film shout be rated 18 and over because of the violence that this film has in it, males 60% and females 40% as males are more into crime, they might more interested into this type of movie.

Film language

Blade Runner

1) what do you think the film is about and what might the storyline be?
I think this movie is about crime s in the imagine is shows a man holding a gun looking like he is ready to shoot someone. Also the name of the movie 'blade runner' also shows that someone is trying to escape from something or someone. Also this movie could involve aliens or something else from this planet as there is weird looking spaceship in the air and they could be trying to kill the people in the image, so the people could be either trying to kill them or run away.

2) what genre(s) do you think the film belongs to?
I think that the blade runner is an action and thriller movie. This is because looking at the front cover it has an image of a man holding a gun and the background colours are quite dark and has a bright light in the back which connotes that there could be danger.

3) what do you think is the target audience?
The target population for this movie could be targeted at the ages from 15+
Male 68% and female 38%

Scary Movie 2

I think this movie is about characters dressed as scary characters but show banter and don't exactly show the scary side of them as on the top is says absolutely hilarious. the characters in the picture don't look scared so they could be purposely joking by showing that they are scared/embarrassing themselves which could be funny as it also says more shameless at a subtitle at the bottom, I assume that this movie could be contrasting the myth of scary movies that they aren't really that scary.
I think this movie is a comedy. This is because on the top of the film poster is says 'absolutely hilarious', i think this because if this was an actual horror movie the front image wouldn't say that,
I think this movie is targeted at ages 15+
Male 50% and female 50%

Uzak

I think this film is about a lonely man who has nothing left and is out to seek vengeance. I think he's telling a story about a war that has happened and now wants to make the people suffer for what they have done. I think this movie is a drama that has a bit of thriller. the colours are really dull and dry which shows this movie could be quite depressing and serious.the target population for this movie could be 18 and over, males targeted 80% and females 20%

Im not scared

I think this film is about a young fearless boy who is playing around and has found a big hole or dug a hole and has found another dimension. This could be quite mysterious as in the title  has somebody's face in it, which could mean that someone might be in that hole that the new boy as discovered. The genre of this movie could be adventurous because i think the little boy is going to different places and might have an adventure. I think that the target population is age 15 and over, males 60% and females%

Bride & Prejudice

I think this move is about young couple who both fall in love but come from two different cultures. i think that it will be difficult for for the couple to be together as both different cultures parents will not agree. i think the genre of this movie is a drama/comedy/romance. the target audience is 18 and over, males 30% and females 70% as females have more an interest in relationships and marriage etc.

Pirates of the caribbean

This movie is about is about an adventure and journey that the pirates travel on, and the fight between men and one woman as they all fall in love with her. i think the genre of this movie is adventures as they are on a boat so it doesn't look like they will be in one specific place. i think the target audience will be aimed more at males as females don't really have much interest in pirate movies so i think this will be aimed at people ages 15 and over, males 80% and females 20%

Million dollar baby

i think this movie is about a girl who is a female boxer, which goes against the stereotype of females as boxing is more of a male trait, but the background colours are quite dull and dark which connotes that the girl could be a tomboy. i think the genre of this movie is drama, as it has a girl boxer which is quite unusual for females, so there could be a bit of drama throughout the movie. the target audience of this movie could be ages 15 ad over, i think this movie could be inspiring to other females out there who are afraid to admit their passion for boxing, so i think this movie would be a great target mainly for women as the front imagine has a woman with men behind her. males 50% and females 50%

Consumption Homework

Magazines -
The magazine I regularly buy is the 'what's on TV' it is because it is a well known magazine because it gives information about all the latest soaps and gossip on what's going to happen next and as I am a soap addict I love to find out what's going to happen next. I usually read the pages about what soaps I watch e.g. Eastenders and hollyoaks but programmes I don't watch is that I don't read about.
Television -
I think I watch about 15 hours a week of television sometimes more if I don't do anything on weekends because I don't watch tv on weekends. I usually watch tv at 6:30 onwards when my programmes usually start. I mainly watch the reality tv show 'keeping up with the kardashians' I have a secret obsession with the kardashian sisters so I love watching their tv show. I normally watch tv alone but if my sisters there she would watch it with me and my cousin sister. If I watch my tv soaps, my mum and aunties watch it with us aswell because once I have it on everyone else gets interested in it too.
Radio -
The main radio stations I listen to is 'kiss100, capital and choice FM' I think these radio stations are better than others because they have all the latest songs on and don't have much news in it as I find if the news is on too long it's quiet boring. I think I spend about 6-7 hours a week listening to the radio only because when I'm in the car it's always on otherwise I don't listen to the radio else where. I listen to the radio when I go to school and when I come back and in the evenings if we go out and it's on in the car. Channels I dislike would be 'radio 1 or heart' they don't have any good music I would listen too and 'radio one' is more of an news channel instead of music so I find that quite boring whilst being in the car. I listen to the radio with whoever is in the car with me (whoevers driving) I only ever listen to the radio in the car if we're going somewhere or in my front drive way washing/cleaning the car I would have the radio on.
Cinema -
This month in cinema I've seen 'the inbetweeners 2' movie. Apart from going to the cinema I watch movies on sky movies or online sites like Netflix etc.. I love watch my horror movies and comedy so I saw 22 jump street and conjuring in cinema but on sky movies I watched 'dispicable me 2 and more' I mainly watch movies with my boyfriend and we both decide to watch films on different days.
Internet -
I access the Internet quite a lot because it comes in handy in my everyday life so it's easy to access it on my iPhone. I access it everywhere, at home, on the bus, at school etc. main sites would be on 'google' I would search up 'tfl' to find out when my bus will arrive which comes quite handy and 'youtube' if I want to listen to music, I'm always on 'Instagram, what's app, snapchat and Facetiming' people which is a way I could contact people and speak to them and could be for entertainment.

Why I chose AS for Media

The reason I chose media AS studies was because last year I chose media studies for my gcse's and I really enjoyed it, so therefore I wanted to do it again. In my gcse media, my overall result was a B and now in AS I'm hoping to achieve an A. Also why I chose this is because I'm hoping to improve my photoshop skills and make use of blogger more during the course of the year. Finally I'm hoping to succeed and be more independent in my work.
